Animal Ambulance Services Halted in Udaipur Over Unpaid Salaries and Pending Demands

Udaipur: Doctors, Livestock Assistants (LSAs), and pilots working under the Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) of the  Rajasthan Government’s Animal Husbandry Department have been compelled to suspend their services in Udaipur due to non-payment of salaries for the past three months. The shutdown has significantly impacted emergency veterinary services across the district.

In a joint appeal addressed to the Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, District Collector of Udaipur, Joint Director of the department, Project Director MVU Jaipur, and HR and CAP officials, MVU staff highlighted the ongoing crisis. Despite multiple requests, salaries for April, May, and June 2025 have not been disbursed. This financial strain has left the employees unable to manage basic needs, forcing them to turn off ambulance services.

According to the Request for Proposal (RFP) agreement, the approved monthly salary is ₹1,56,100 for veterinary doctors, ₹20,000 for livestock assistants, and ₹18,000 for pilots, with an annual 3% increment. The aggrieved staff members pointed out that these terms have not been honored in recent months.

As part of their collective appeal, MVU staff has presented the following key *demands*:

1. *Immediate disbursal of pending salaries for April, May, and June 2025.*
2. *Timely salary payments in future as per the RFP agreement.*
3. *Implementation of the promised 3% annual increment.*
4. *Grant of official leave on government holidays in line with standard government practices.*

Doctors including Dr. Sachin (VO, Salumber), Dr. Anil Kumar (VA, Thallares), LSA Jade Gami, Avinash, Dr. Ramesh (Vallabhnagar), Rajkumar (LSA, Kherwada), Neelchand and several other MVU staff members jointly stated that they are fully committed to providing quality veterinary care but cannot continue operations under financial duress.

They further added that unless these demands are met, they will be left with no option but to keep the animal ambulance services suspended. The staff expressed hope that the government will act swiftly to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy in essential veterinary care services.
