National Statistics Day Celebrated with Theme “75 Years of National Sample Survey
Divisional Commissioner Releases Publications and Felicitates Officials
Udaipur: The 19th National Statistics Day was celebrated on Sunday at the auditorium of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur, jointly organized by the Department of Economics & Statistics and IIM Udaipur, to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of Indian Statistics, Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Chief Guest Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevlramani, IIM Udaipur Director Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director (Statistics), TRI Sudhir Dave, and Joint Director, Economics & Statistics Department Udaipur Puneet Sharma.
On this occasion, a workshop was held on the theme “75 Years of National Sample Survey” (#NationalSampleSurvey #StatisticsDay). The Divisional Commissioner also released various publications of the Department of Economics & Statistics (#GovernmentPublications #DataMatters).
Officials who made notable contributions in the field of statistics at the district level were felicitated. Those honored included Assistant Director Dr. Piyush Kumar Bhandari, Assistant Statistical Officer Neetu Rani Chaubisa, Statistical Inspector of Phalasiya Block Harshita Jain, and Statistical Inspector of Girwa Block Ashok Patel.
The workshop featured two technical sessions where subject experts shared presentations through PowerPoint on the significance and applications of statistics in various fields. Speakers included Prof. Ashok from JNU, Dr. Kamalkant Hiran from Singhania University, Prof. Debanjan Mitra and Nilanjana Chakraborty from IIM, along with Joint Director Puneet Sharma and Dr. Piyush Kumar Bhandari from the Economics & Statistics Department.

In addition, a tree plantation drive was conducted under the campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (#GreenIndia #TreePlantation).
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from both retired and serving district and block-level officials of the Department, as well as faculty and students of IIM Udaipur’s Statistics Department.
The event was compered by Statistical Officer Priyanka Sharma and Assistant Statistical Officer Neetu Rani Chaubisa, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint Director Puneet Sharma.
