Meeting Cancelled After MP Rawat’s Objection: Collector Called 'DISHA' Meeting on Just Two Days’ Notice
Udaipur, In a surprising move, the District Collector of Dungarpur scheduled a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) with just two days’ notice, prompting strong objections from Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, who is the co-chairperson of the committee. Following his protest, the meeting was cancelled.
The meeting, originally scheduled for June 18, was notified to the co-chairperson and other members only on June 16, violating the central government guidelines, which mandate that such meetings must be notified at least 15 days in advance, and the agenda should be shared 10 days prior.
According to sources, the Collector acted under the pressure of BAP MLA and MP Rajkumar Rot, bypassing procedural norms. MP Rawat expressed his displeasure and firmly stated, “Rules are bigger than any individual.”
Rawat condemned the move and said such pressure-driven decisions are unacceptable in a democratic setup. He further added that he will file a formal complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding this matter.
Acknowledging the procedural lapse, the Dungarpur Collector cancelled the meeting, assuring that the next DISHA meeting would only be held with a proper 15-day prior notice.
This incident has sparked discussions in political and administrative circles, highlighting the need to uphold protocol and ensure transparent governance that respects the role of elected representatives.
