Distribution of Agricultural Equipment under Scheduled Caste Sub-Project

Under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Women in Agriculture, operated by the Directorate of Research, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, agricultural tools were distributed to women from Scheduled Caste communities in the villages of Singri, Dob, Oda, Rohimala, Birothi, Banchhiwara, Somawada, and Kolyari of the Jhadol-Phalasiya region.

As part of this significant initiative, around 700 agricultural tools are planned to be distributed. In earlier phases, 12 types of equipment such as milk cans, sewing machines, Azolla beds, metal buckets, sickles, khurpis, garden rakes, and sprayers had already been distributed. In the recent distribution drive, five essential toolsirrigation pipes, vermi beds, green nets, water jars, and buckets – were handed over to 200 women beneficiaries.

Dr. Vishakha Bansal, Unit Coordinator, provided detailed guidance on the use and maintenance of agricultural equipment. She explained how these tools will significantly reduce manual labor and save time for women in agriculture.

Additionally, the project includes the establishment of Custom Hiring Centres in the villages of Turgarh and Thariberi, where agricultural tools will be made available at nominal rent. This will enable women and farmers to access equipment as per need and return it after use, promoting resource-sharing and affordability.

The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response from the women, who expressed happiness about the support. The program saw the participation of around 250 women. The efforts were supported by Dr. Kusum Sharma (Young Professional) and local farmers Hiralal Patel and Nanalal Patel.
