Udaipur, “He who has nothing to offer but love and devotion—when he approaches his friend’s door, the Lord himself runs to greet him. This is the supreme embodiment of friendship between Sudama and Krishna.”
On the final day of the seven-day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha held at Sahastra Audichya Dharmashala, Choti Brahmpuri, Udaipur, the soul-stirring episode of Krishna-Sudama milan (reunion) brought tears to the eyes of all devotees present. The voice of Katha Vachak Pt. Rakesh Mishra Maharaj, filled with compassion, love, and deep emotional resonance, transformed the atmosphere into a divine Dwarka.
Maharajshri remarked, “Sudama asked neither for wealth nor opulence. He only wished to see his friend again. And Krishna—the sovereign of all prosperity—ran barefoot to welcome his humble Brahmin friend. This tale teaches us that a true friend values affection over affluence.”
With heartfelt expressions, Maharaj narrated, “Sudama’s pouch may have held just a few grains of rice, but his emotions were as pure as the sacred Ganga. And Krishna embraced him not as a king, but as a beloved brother.” When he sang the touching bhajan "Mujhe tumne data bahut kuch diya...", emotions overwhelmed the gathering, and teary eyes reflected the divine bond of eternal friendship.
The final day of the katha also included narrations of Lord Krishna’s various marriages, the slaying of Jarasandh, and the salvation of Shishupala and Dantavakra. The moksha (liberation) of King Parikshit was also recited, emphasizing the spiritual power of listening to the Bhagwat Katha even in the face of death.
Katha coordinator Sunil Vyas informed that the event concluded with a vibrant Shobhayatra (procession) of the Bhagwat scripture, accompanied by music and devotional songs. The event ended with Aarti and Mahaprasad distribution.
Social workers Jitendra Vyas, Rajendra Trivedi, Sudhir Vyas, Nidhi Vyas, Doli Vyas, Vipin Sharma, Ranjan Rawal, and Anita Trivedi showered flowers upon Maharajshri, expressing their gratitude and reverence.
