For the first time, over 300 students are willingly staying away from home for a month—not for vacations, but to learn under 24x7 discipline, academics, sports, and personality development. Children from locations like Zawar, Chittorgarh, Agucha, Dariba, Debari, Salumber, and Kayad are participating in Hindustan Zinc's Shiksha Sambal residential summer camp with smiles and confidence, receiving mentorship from teachers who are more like family.
The residential and non-residential summer training camps, held in Udaipur, Salumber, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Ajmer, are part of Hindustan Zinc’s education initiative, in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur. Over 1500 students from government schools are taking part, focusing on English, Mathematics, and Science, along with sports, physical, intellectual, and cultural development.
The 8th Residential Summer Camp, inaugurated at Vidya Bhawan Auditorium, runs from May 20 to June 18, where over 300 students from classes 8, 10, and 12 (Science stream) are participating. In addition, 1,200 students are part of non-residential camps at 6 other locations. Digital classrooms, audio-visual learning, hands-on activities, clay & pottery art, creative use of waste materials, and emerging technologies like Robotics are part of this year's curriculum.
Launched 9 years ago, the program's success is reflected in increasing participation and better academic outcomes. Hindustan Zinc has been supporting underprivileged rural students through Shiksha Sambal for over 20 years, particularly in schools with a lack of subject teachers.
Dignitaries like Additional District Education Officer Murli Dhar Chaubisa, Vedanta CSR Head Anupam Nidhi, Vidya Bhawan CEO Rajendra Bhatt, and others graced the event. The camp ensures holistic student development, integrating academic excellence, skill-building, behavioral growth, sports, and cultural exposure.
