Mission-Level Directives for Prevention of Seasonal Diseases

Collector Namit Mehta Chairs District Health Committee Meeting

Udaipur, The District Health Committee meeting was convened on Wednesday at the District Council Auditorium under the chairmanship of Collector Namit Mehta. The meeting reviewed various health department schemes and activities, with essential directions issued for their effective implementation.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Ashok Aditya presented a progress report on departmental schemes and programs. Expressing displeasure over the slow pace of package bookings under the flagship ‘Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana – Maa Yojana’, the Collector noted that only 57% of admitted patients in government hospitals had their packages booked. He emphasized that while patients are receiving free treatment, delays in insurance claim bookings cause financial loss to the government. He demanded explanations from in-charges of hospitals showing low performance and appreciated the efforts of well-performing institutions by collecting feedback from them. CMHO Dr. Aditya was directed to ensure maximum enrollment and package bookings under the scheme.

The Collector also reviewed block-wise data on the registration of pregnant women, institutional deliveries, and immunization. He expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of 100% registration of pregnant women and emphasized that all related healthcare services are adversely affected by this gap. Instructions were given to conduct a district-wide survey through ANMs and ASHAs to ensure complete registration, with certification of 100% compliance from each ANM and ASHA.

Ensure Active Participation of CHOs
Collector Mehta stressed the active involvement of recently appointed Community Health Officers (CHOs) in all departmental activities. He noted that many villagers remain unaware of the CHOs’ presence despite their critical role in delivering rural health services. Regular monitoring of CHO attendance and their involvement in activities was ordered to ensure that the general public can benefit from their services.

Integrated Efforts for Seasonal Disease Prevention
Considering the upcoming monsoon season, the Collector discussed preparations for preventing seasonal illnesses like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and scrub typhus. Comparative data from previous years was presented, and officials informed the establishment of a district-level control room (Contact: 6367304312). An anti-larvae campaign was conducted from April 1 to May 14. The Collector directed necessary measures for disease prevention and instructed the provision of fogging machines at all CHC and PHC levels.

Directive to Prepare IEC Plan
To raise public awareness about seasonal disease prevention, Collector Mehta emphasized the importance of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) efforts. He instructed the preparation of a detailed IEC plan for the entire district, focusing on educating the public about hygiene, preventing water stagnation, and regular cleaning of coolers, utensils, and bird pots. Block-level IEC activities were also mandated.

Intensive Monitoring of TB Eradication Campaign
The TB eradication campaign, a top priority of both central and state governments, was also reviewed. Noting the slow progress in several blocks, the Collector instructed the District TB Officer to ensure weekly monitoring and reporting. He underscored the social and economic challenges faced by TB patients and their families and called for a sensitive and dedicated approach to implementing the campaign effectively.

Discussion on Other Schemes and Programs
Other programs such as family welfare and non-communicable disease prevention were also reviewed. Detailed discussions and directives were issued on each. The meeting was attended by CMHO-II Dr. Syed, Additional CMHO Dr. Ragini Agarwal, departmental officers, BCHOs, in-charges of district and sub-district hospitals and CHCs, and officials from NHM and other projects.
