Strong Winds Cause Boat to Go Out of Control in Fatehsagar

Udaipur, May 19: A major mishap was averted at Udaipur’s popular tourist destination Fatehsagar Lake on Monday afternoon when a boat carrying tourists lost control during a sudden rainstorm accompanied by strong winds. Thanks to the alertness and presence of mind of the tourists and boatmen, the situation was brought under control without any casualties. Upon receiving the information, District Collector Namit Mehta and UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, along with senior officials, rushed to the spot. All tourists onboard were safely rescued.
According to Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) Commissioner Rahul Jain, a boat departed from the UDA jetty towards Nehru Garden as per routine on Monday afternoon. However, sudden strong winds caused the boat to become unstable. Despite the rough weather, the tourists onboard remained calm, and the boatmen made every possible effort to control the boat. The boat did not overturn, preventing a serious accident. Meanwhile, UDA and NDRF teams arrived at the scene and carried out the rescue operation efficiently.
District Collector Namit Mehta personally inspected the site and gave necessary instructions to the officials present there.
Commissioner Jain further informed that the boat had already left the jetty before the winds started. As a precaution, operations of other boats were halted immediately once the storm began. Minor damage was reported to the jetty, and boat services have been temporarily suspended.
