First Dowry-Free Mass Wedding Ceremony by Eklingnath Seva Sangathan

Udaipur, The Shri Eklingnath Rashtriya Seva Sangathan is set to host Udaipur’s first dowry-free, all-community mass wedding ceremony at Satyam Garden, opposite Mahasatiya, on Saturday, 17 May.

Founder-President Akash Bagdi informed that preparations for the all-inclusive ceremony have been completed. It is Rajasthan’s first such event where couples from various communities are participating without any charges or formalities demanded from either side. The entire event will be dowry-free and devoid of ostentation, with all arrangements being handled by the Sangathan.

The procession will commence at 3 PM from Bohra Ganeshji Temple, featuring grooms and brides riding on traditional bagghis (chariots). The route will pass through Bohra Ganeshji Circle and University Road, concluding at Satyam Garden, where rituals like toran, varmala, and pheras will be performed. All couples will take an eighth vow — a joint pledge to support the "Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child" movement.

Bhajan Sandhya in the name of Maa Ambe will be held at night after the wedding rituals, with cultural performances showcasing Rajasthan’s rich heritage.

Sangathan’s state president Deepak Menaria shared that each family is allowed 50 guests, ensuring the event remains community-focused yet manageable.

Patrons Nirmal Kumar Pandit and Vinod Pandey revealed a unique social initiative: a 30-year agreement is being signed between each couple. In case of disputes, they must first consult the Sangathan rather than approaching the police or courts. The organization will provide two rounds of counseling, and if separation is still desired, the groom’s family must pay ₹1 lakh to the bride’s family before further proceedings.

The event stands as a landmark step toward social reform and unity, breaking barriers of dowry, community divisions, and expensive weddings.
