Udaipur – The first day of the 9th three-day Shri Shyam Mahotsav, organized by Shri Khatu Shyam Mitra Mandal Trust, marked a historic moment with the grand Nishan Yatra (flag procession) and city tour of Khatu Shyam Baba on the occasion of Mohini Ekadashi. For the first time in Udaipur, a massive religious procession of Baba Shyam was conducted across the city.
Hundreds of devotees, including men, women, and children, participated in the Nishan Yatra that commenced at 6 PM from the Mahotsav venue at Fateh School. Along with the Shyam flags, devotees also carried the Indian national flag, saluting the brave soldiers guarding the nation's borders.
The yatra passed through major city routes—Surajpole, Bapu Bazaar, Delhi Gate, and Town Hall Road—before returning to Fateh School. Khatu Shyam Baba was placed on a beautifully decorated chariot, followed by enthusiastic devotees chanting “Khatu Naresh Ki Jai”, “Hare ke Sahara Ki Jai”, “Teen Baan Dhaari Ki Jai”, and “Mor Pankh Wale Ki Jai”.
The male devotees wore white clothes while women dressed in red chunris. The first-ever city tour of Baba Shyam drew large crowds of city residents eager to witness and welcome the procession. At multiple locations along the route, flowers were showered, and aartis were performed. Special highlights included Aggarwal Samaj performing aarti at Surajpole Chowk and distributing flowers.
After the yatra concluded, prasad was distributed to all participants, followed by a community feast (bhandara) attended by hundreds of Shyam devotees.
