Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc's (NSE: HINDZINC) Zinc Football Academy is enjoying a fantastic 2024-25 season and is gearing up for a thrilling climax, with the Zawar-based side holding its destiny firmly in its own hands across all three major tournaments they are contesting.
In the Rajasthan League A-Division, Zinc Football Academy currently sits fourth in the points table with 17 points from 8 matches, boasting 5 wins and 2 draws. FC Brothers United leads the table with 26 points from 10 outings. With 12 important matches lined up in the month of May, the Hindustan Zinc’s Academy, fielding its talented Under-20 squad, is well in the race to replicate their historic 2021 feat, where they became the youngest side ever to lift the shiny R-League trophy.
Meanwhile, Zinc Football Academy’s Under-17 team has landed in Guwahati, fully focused on the final round of the AIFF Youth League. After an unbeaten run and topping Group H in the zonal phase, ZFA will set their sights firmly on the silverware this time. Drawn into Group C, they will face FC Madras on May 3rd, Northeast United FC on May 5th, and FC Mangalore on May 7th. The top two teams from the group will march into the quarter-finals on May 9th, with the grand finale slated for May 14th.
Adding to the excitement, the Under-15 squad is ready to travel to Jamshedpur for the Play-off round of the AIFF Junior League. Having narrowly missed out on topping their group in the zonal round, falling short on goal difference, the budding footballers will take on Mumbai City FC on May 11th, and United Sports Club on May 13th. Victories here will see them book their spot in the final round starting May 16th.
With all the three Zinc Football Academy teams still in the hunt for glory at the national level, the grassroots and youth football development academy continues to set a shining example of nurturing footballing talents.
