Sadhvi Kamal Pragya Awarded PhD Degree
Sadhvi Kamal Pragya has been conferred the prestigious Vidya Vachaspati (PhD) degree by the Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, a recognized university located in Ladnun, Rajasthan. Sadhvi Dr. Kamal Pragya completed her doctoral research on the topic “Life Science as Expounded in the Original Agama Texts: A Perspective,” under the guidance of Acharya (Prakrit and Sanskrit Department) Shramani Dr. Sangeet Pragya. The research work was significantly supported by Shraman Dr. Pushpendra’s continuous contributions.
In her research, Sadhvi Dr. Kamal Pragya explored the social and behavioral aspects of human life as presented in the four primary Agama texts—the Dashavaikalika, Uttaradhyayan, Nandi Sutra, and Anuyogdvar—while linking these teachings with modern scientific concepts. She examined the human body’s structure, focusing on elements such as breath observation (Shwas Preksha), consciousness (Chautanya), and body awareness, and presented how these could be integrated with contemporary scientific understanding. She emphasized that the purification of both behavior and the spiritual world is only possible through the assimilation of Life Science.
Sadhvi Dr. Kamal Pragya, a disciple of Jain Divakar Pujya Shri Chothmal Ji Maharaj and Sadhvi Dr. Sanyamlata, had earlier achieved significant academic success. In 2021, she earned a Gold Medal for securing a top position in the all-India Prakrit examination conducted by the Apabhransh Sahitya Academy, Jaipur, which is affiliated with Rajasthan University.
Born on May 28, 1985, in Mumbai, Dr. Kamal Pragya embraced Jain Bhagwati Diksha at the age of 22 on January 19, 2008, in Dundada, Rajasthan. Over the past 16 years of her monastic life, she has completed an inspiring 20,000 kilometers of foot pilgrimages across 9 states.
Dr. Kamal Pragya’s PhD achievement has brought immense joy to the entire Jain community, marking a significant milestone in her spiritual and academic journey.
