Udaipur, The city is gearing up with fervor and excitement for the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, scheduled to commence today. The preparations are in full swing to make this event majestic and divine, eagerly awaited by devotees who will witness their beloved deity embark on a procession from the temple precincts.
Kamal Chauhan, a member of the Jagdish Temple Rath Yatra Committee, highlighted that every year, the Rath Yatra includes other floats alongside the silver-clad chariot. The silver-chariot is annually polished before the procession to enhance its radiance. Currently, preparations involve polishing and cleaning the chariot's equipment before the main ceremony of Lord Jagannath Swami commences.
The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a source of immense enthusiasm for the residents of Udaipur. Notably, the chariot measures 8 feet in width, 16 feet in length, and stands at a height of 21 feet, weighing a total of 30 tons. Devotees will pull the chariot with ropes, leading Lord Shri Krishna on a city tour. The Rath Yatra also features various community floats from different sections of Udaipur.
President of the Rath Yatra Committee, Rajendra Shrimalli, stated that preparations have begun at the 400-year-old Jagdish Temple in Udaipur to commence the Rath Yatra on July 7. The procession will feature decorated elephants and horses, with women participating in the Kalash Yatra.
In anticipation of the event, Magistrate appointments have been made to maintain law and order during the Bhagwan Jagannath Yatra, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout the city. Deputy Collectors have been appointed for specific areas to oversee the Rath Yatra logistics and ensure a safe and auspicious celebration.
