22nd National Karate Championship Begins Today

Udaipur - The 22nd National Karate Championship, organized by Chawat Sports Academy, will be held on June 8 and 9 at the Chawat Sports Academy complex in New Navratan Complex. All preparations for the event have been completed.

Sensei Hasrat Khan, the national president of the National Karate Association, shared that over 400 athletes from 10 states are participating in the competition. Participants range from 5 to 56 years old. This is the first time a national-level karate competition is being held in Udaipur, generating great excitement among local karate enthusiasts. Teams from Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, UP, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, MP, Bihar, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu are expected to compete. These athletes have previously won state-level competitions and have earned medals there.

He mentioned that all arrangements have been made for the two-day competition at Chawat Sports Academy. Despite the scorching heat, there is immense enthusiasm among the karate players. Participants are arriving in Udaipur from various parts of the country, and arrangements have been made to ensure they do not face any discomfort due to the heat.

Khan expressed surprise that no government assistance or facilities have been provided for such a popular sport like karate, despite ongoing efforts. He believes that if the government supports karate, the sport could see significant growth in India. The winners of this competition may also have the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.

Sensei Vikram Sehgal announced that the competition would be inaugurated on Saturday afternoon by District Collector Arvind Poswal. Chand Chawat, the founder of Chawat Sports Academy, shared that since its establishment in 2017, the academy has produced many karate athletes. In addition to karate, the academy provides training in judo, kudo, cricket, and badminton.

During the event, Sensei Hasrat Khan, Sensei Mukesh Kumar Sukhwal, Mangilal Salvi, Arnav Sehgal, and Ghazala Khan were also present and provided detailed information about the competition.
