Shuddh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar' Campaign Initiated Against Adulteration*

*Kota, The government has initiated strong measures to curb adulteration and ensure the availability of pure and quality food items. The 'Shuddh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar' campaign has been launched in Kota and across the state from Thursday. The campaign started in the district from Kathun.

In relation to the successful implementation of the campaign, Director of Food Safety and Drug Control, Shiv Prasad Nakate, has issued directives to all district collectors, concerned officials, and CMOs regarding the activities organized in the campaign. The campaign aims to create awareness among the public about pure and quality food items through various mediums of publicity.

During the campaign, people will be educated about the importance of healthy and clean food items as well as the use of 'Shri' grains (whole grains). Mobile food testing labs will conduct on-the-spot inspections of food items, and food business operators will be provided with on-the-spot food permit/registration facilities. Food safety training and certification (FoSTeC) training camps will also be organized.

The campaign includes verifying and certifying school premises, religious places, railway stations, bus stands, etc., as suitable locations for the sale of food items. A WhatsApp number (9462819999) has been provided for complaints related to adulteration.

Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Control, Dr. Jagdish Soni, informed that the campaign commenced on Thursday in Kathun. The Food Safety team of the Medical and Health Department organized camps and issued permits to 8 food business operators and registrations to 33. Training under FoSTeC was provided to 56 food business operators. The training is essential for all food business operators, including catering, retail, wholesale, manufacturing, hotels, sweet shops, etc.

Additionally, 26 food items were tested on the spot using mobile food testing labs. Awareness campaigns were conducted in Kathun village, emphasizing the benefits of 'Shri' grains. The campaign also included the dissemination of information about licenses and registrations through mobile vans and awareness activities in Kathun village. The initiative aims to take strict action against adulteration under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and regulations of 2011.
