Seminar on Responsible Tourism for Nature and Prosperity Held in Udaipur

*Udaipur, - In a first-of-its-kind initiative, stakeholders from the tourism industry and environmental conservation came together on a platform to discuss and deliberate on the growth and preservation of both tourism and the environment.

The seminar on "Responsible Tourism for Nature and Prosperity" was organized in the seminar hall of Vidya Bhavan Polytechnic. The event was a collaborative effort between Vidya Bhavan Polytechnic's Water Forum and the Tourism Department of Christ University, Bangalore.

Ashwini Khurana, a globally recognized Eco Tourism Entrepreneur and Expert 0  for Responsible Tourism based in Delhi emphasized the need for hotels and resorts to ensure minimal waste, proper waste disposal, and reduced pollution. He stressed that tourism businesses should strive to make their premises carbon, water, and energy-neutral, as this would attract a larger number of tourists. Khurana exemplified these principles through his deep commitment to environmental service and his daily hotel management practices, advocating for eco-tourism across the nation.

Dr. Lalit Pandey, President of INTACH and a renowned archaeologist, highlighted Udaipur's rich archaeological heritage, emphasizing its significance in attracting tourists from India and abroad.

Dignitaries such as Digvijay Singh from the Guide Association, Kamal Singh Rathore, Hari Krishna Rathore, and Surbhi Jain spoke about Udaipur's commitment to responsible tourism.

Former officers from the Indian Forest Service, O.P. Sharma, and Rahul Bhatnagar, expressed the need to center tourism around local culture, environment, history, heritage, and traditional practices.

Yash Sharma from UCCI (Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry) mentioned ongoing efforts to assess Udaipur's tourism carrying capacity.

Environmentalists Dr. Arun Jakariya, Dr. A.R.L. Shrimaal, Kushal Rawal, Jaydev Joshi, and Danish discussed the environmental challenges faced by Udaipur, including the depleting habitat for migratory birds and the need for effective conservation.

Research scholar Soumya Kapil from Christ University expressed astonishment at the lack of effective education and training in tourism sciences in Udaipur, one of the world's best tourist destinations.

The seminar, chaired by Dr. Anurag Priyadarshi, Chief Executive of Vidya Bhavan, was organized by Dr. Anil Mehta, who shed light on the seminar's objectives, expressing satisfaction at the comprehensive deliberation on tourism and the environment.

The event concluded with gratitude expressed by Neetu Kapil from D.P.S. Education Institute. The seminar marked a significant step toward fostering responsible tourism practices for the holistic development of Udaipur.
