Royal Tulip, Navi Mumbai, Kicks Off Festive Season with Grand Cake-Mixing Ceremony

The Royal Tulip in Navi Mumbai is gearing up for a vibrant festive quarter, fueled by the success of the recent November long weekend. With optimistic business prospects, the hotel anticipates a surge in demand for its food and beverage (F&B) offerings during the festive season.

In the wake of uncertainties, the travel and hospitality sector is experiencing a resurgence, as people eagerly plan to make up for lost time by celebrating special occasions, particularly festivals. Recognizing hotels as ideal settings for these celebrations, Royal Tulip has witnessed a notable uptick in business.

**Executive Chef Satish Gupta** took the lead in orchestrating a cake-mixing ceremony on November 25, infusing a variety of ingredients into the mix, including rich nuts, luscious dry fruits, premium liquors, and aromatic spices. This time-honored tradition not only symbolizes the abundance of the harvest but also marks the official commencement of the Christmas season.

Commenting on the ceremony, **Wesley Fernandes, General Manager at Royal Tulip**, stated, “The ritual is a precursor to the Christmas and New Year celebration, which is hosted by Royal Tulip every year. With the cake-mixing ceremony, we hope the ongoing festivities will continue, bringing prosperity, success, and good luck for every year.”

The cake-mixing ritual typically begins early in November, representing an age-old tradition where various dry fruits, nuts, grains, and spices are combined to create a mixture. This blend is then soaked in alcoholic blends for several days, allowing the ingredients to absorb flavors and aromas. Eventually, the mixture is incorporated into the cake batter, leading to the baking of Christmas Fruit Cakes.

This grand celebration not only signifies the joy of the Christmas season but also heralds the arrival of the harvest season. The meticulous mixing process involves high-quality rum, wine, or other alcoholic beverages, imparting a unique flavor, aroma, and texture to the cakes.

More than fifteen varieties of dried fruits, including grapes, dates, figs, cherries, and papaya, along with an assortment of nuts such as cashews, pistachios, and almonds, are combined with spices like dried ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. This concoction is then soaked for up to 7-8 weeks, allowing the flavors to meld and create a distinctive festive taste and aroma.
