Enhancing Mining Safety Through Collaboration
Udaipur, Hindustan Zinc, under the stewardship of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), successfully hosted the 23rd Tripartite Committee Meeting focusing on health, safety, and well-being in mining operations. The meeting at the premises of the Directorate of Mine Safety in Udaipur entailed discussions on the welfare of individuals employed in mines. Key attendees included R.T. Mandekar, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, Northern-Western Region; Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Zinc; and K.S. Shaktawat, Secretary-General of the Hindustan Zinc Workers' Federation.
Chairing the meeting, K.S. Shaktawat emphasized the committee's dedication to enhancing safety practices and elevating standards within the mining sector through extensive deliberations.
During the session, R.T. Mandekar underscored the significance of prioritizing ventilation and stressed the importance of annual action plans, effective implementations, and pre-incident and post-analysis of accident and near-miss investigations. He highlighted that such annual forums will reinforce the culture of safety across all operations.
Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Zinc, conveyed, "Safety remains paramount at Hindustan Zinc. The insights gained from the Tripartite Meeting with DGMS provide valuable learning for strengthening our mining safety in line with our zero-harm approach.
