Udaipur, The two-day "Leadership Conclave-2023" organized by the Master of Human Resource Management, Department of Business Management, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, commenced at the Vivekananda Auditorium in Udaipur. The event featured Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Vidhansabha Speaker Dr. CP Joshi as the distinguished speakers, who shed light on the essence of democracy and various aspects crucial for developing leadership capabilities.
Addressing the audience, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the distinction between information and knowledge. He stressed that leadership is not merely acquired through information; while information is received, knowledge is gained through experience and enables one to become a leader. With the advancements in artificial intelligence and technology, the availability of information has increased, but it is essential to utilize it effectively in order to provide a new direction to the youth. Birla highlighted the significance of incorporating the foundational elements of Indian culture, such as knowledge, culture, history, and contemplation, into leadership development. He stated that leadership is not built overnight, but is forged through daily decision-making and actions. Reflecting on the freedom movement, Birla paid tribute to the martyrs and praised the leadership abilities of Maharana Pratap, noting his esteemed recognition worldwide.
Birla emphasized that a new India can be constructed through dialogue, empathy, and cooperation, and that the vision of change can only be realized with the participation of every individual, regardless of their background or status.
Dr. CP Joshi, the special guest of the program and Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, underscored the crucial role of the legislature as a watchdog. Expressing concern, he highlighted that, except for Kerala, the average session of the parliament in the entire country lasts only 20-25 days. He emphasized the need for policy-making and governance of high quality, which can only be achieved when the legislature functions effectively throughout the day. Joshi stressed the importance of understanding the challenges ahead and urged political parties to engage in thoughtful introspection. He questioned why votes in parliamentary elections are influenced by the face of the Prime Minister, while the same votes often become floating votes in assembly elections. Joshi called on political parties to analyze the reasons behind this phenomenon and find solutions. He discussed the unique semi-parliamentary system of elections in India and emphasized the need for political education to strengthen democracy and shape the future concept of effective leadership.
The program, chaired by Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University Professor IV Trivedi, highlighted the virtue of patience in leadership. Trivedi praised Dr. CP Joshi's resilience and patience as a politician, citing an example where Joshi persevered and emerged victorious despite losing by a single vote. Trivedi emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements and encouraged leaders to evaluate themselves, fostering a positive and forward-thinking vision for the future. The event's director, Professor Manju Baghmar, welcomed the participants and outlined the purpose of the conclave, while Dr. Devendra Shrimali, the Organizing Secretary, provided detailed information about the Leadership Conclave, emphasizing its significance for students and aspiring future leaders. Professor PK Singh, the Dean of Commerce College, expressed gratitude on behalf of the organizing team.
