- Under the leadership of Additional Commissioner Ashok Kumar, a dialogue program was organized at the Tax Building, Udaipur, within the premises of Udaipur Marble Association, in collaboration with the Commercial Tax Department, Udaipur. The dialogue program included representatives from Udaipur Marble Association such as Pankaj Gangawat, Bhupendra Singh Rawat, and others, along with representatives from Udaipur Marble Processor Association including Rajesh Khamsera, Kapil Surana, Mangilal Lunawat, and others. The program was attended by the department's Joint Commissioner Ravindra Jain, Manish Bakshi, and Assistant Commissioner Anuj Bhatnagar, who provided detailed information to the participants on the latest provisions of GST, e-invoicing, fake registration campaign, VAT, and GST amnesty scheme, and discussed and resolved the issues and suggestions raised by the attendees.
During the meeting, the Additional Commissioner mentioned that a door-to-door survey will not be conducted under the fake registration campaign. Only the received information will be verified and legal action will be taken accordingly. Under the campaign, verification will be conducted based on the information obtained from the headquarters and intelligence agencies, and legal action will be taken in case irregularities are found. This will specifically target traders involved in fake registration and related chain. The Marble Association members were requested to provide accurate information and promote compliance with the departmental campaigns and amnesty scheme. In case of any problems, representatives of the Marble Association were provided with a direct contact number, 0294-2583004, to reach out to the Additional Commissioner. Through dialogue programs, communication and coordination between the traders and the department will be enhanced, resulting in increased tax compliance and timely filing of returns. Additionally, such dialogue programs will continue periodically in the future.
During the meeting, Joint Commissioner Ravindra Jain mentioned the provisions of GST Amnesty Scheme 2023 and VAT Amnesty Scheme 2023, which were further elaborated by Assistant Commissioner Anuj Bhatnagar, acquainting the attendees with the new provisions. They also urged the traders to file their GST returns within the compliance timeline to avoid penalties. Various practical aspects related to the marble business, such as e-billing, e-invoicing, adoption of composition scheme by normal taxpayers, were discussed by the members present. Suggestions were provided by the attendees to reduce the tax rates. Simplification of GST provisions related to marble exports was also proposed. Departmental officials addressed various misconceptions related to marble trade and clarified them in the light of the State and Goods and Services Tax Act.
