Lecture scientific session, Dr. Abhinav Humar, a surgeon from America, regarding new changes in the field of kidney transplant
on 08th instant in the scientific session, on the recent changes in the field of kidney transplant was discussed at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital. Speakers from the US included surgeons Dr. Abhinav Hummer, Professor of Abdominal Transplant Surgery and Clinical Director of the Head-Division, Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Institute; Thomas E. Starzl, Professor in Transplantation Surgery, is a pioneer in the field of transplantation figure prominently.
Dr. Abhinav shared lectures on necessary precautions before kidney transplant, patient survival after kidney transplant and viral infection, new therapy, etc.
Dr. Abhinav also said that the HLA matching technique is currently used for kidney transplants. Applet matching is presently at an experimental stage, with the help of which the matching between the donor and the recipient can be done more accurately, leading to more improvement in the result.
During the scientific session, CTVS surgeon Dr. Sanjay Gandhi, urologist Dr. Pankaj Trivedi, Dr. Vishwas Baheti, G.I. Surgeon Dr. Kamal Kishore Bishnoi and doctors from other departments also discussed and answered questions.
CEO of Geetanjali Hospital, Mr. Prateem Tamboli, Medical Superintendent Col. Dr. Sunita Dashottar, the transplant team, and all senior doctors, nursing, and the Brain Death Committee coordinators were present during the session. Dr. Abhinav also visited and praised the modular operation theater of Geetanjali Hospital.
