Geetanjali College and School of Nursing celebrated World Breastfeeding Week
Geetanjali College and School of Nursing’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Child Health Nursing department organized a weeklong celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2021 under the theme: Protect Breastfeeding; a Shared Responsibility. The program was inaugurated and felicitated by our Dean cum Director, GCSN Dr. Sandhya Ghai who addressed the participants by sharing statistical data of breastfeeding women in our country emphasizing and discussing the role of various stake holders like government to frame mother and infant friendly policies for paid maternity, paternity leaves and implement leave facilities and encourage mother-baby friendly environment by having on sight breastfeeding facilities during working hours. All health workers should involve in educating the antenatal & postnatal mothers and also counselling the mother and her family members. The Principal, Dr. Yogeshwar Puri Goswami briefed the schedule of events planned for the celebration week. The students of our college participated in various competitions organized for them. The students of GNM 3rd year also organised a health education for the community people at Nai village, Udaipur. The program has surely helped in spreading the knowledge regarding breastfeeding. On 7th of August the breastfeeding week was celebrated by organising a live online zoom webinar on breastfeeding importance by the students of MSc nursing students and 165 antenatal and postnatal mothers were the beneficiaries followed by valedictory function and prize was distributed to all the winners of different competitions following are: Rahul Khatik and Divyansh Paliwal bagged 1st prize in poster, GNM 3rd students won for Rangoli, BSc nursing 3rd year students won for quiz, Mahesh khatik and Yuvraj Singh won for slogan, Lakshita kunwar won for treaties competitions. The program was planned and executed by Mrs. Yashaswini Deepak (HOD OBG) and Mr. Deepak BV (HOD CHN).
