Jaisamand Lake

This lake is renowned for being the second largest artificial lake in Asia. Located at distance of 60 k.m. from Udaipur, it is also known as "Dhebar". It was built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1685. The lake covers an area of 36 sq k.m., stetches to the length of 14 k.m. and width of 9 k.m. It is deep to the maximum of 102 feet and has a circumference of 30 miles.

Along the banks of the lake are chattries, Shiv temple and six interesting cenotaphs carved from marble that are worth visiting. The lake comprises seven islands and one of these islands is still inhabited by the tribe of Bhil Minas. The lake has graceful marble steps descending to the water, we can enjoy boat ride in the calm waters of Lake. Loadging facilities, means of recreations, facilities of refreshments etc. have been provided here on high scale. The place flourishes with tourists all round the year cup a best picnic spot.

Another features of Jaisamand lake that makes it a nice place to visit is a sanctuary that serves habitat to various types of birds, panthers, leopards, deer, wild boars and crocodiles. In the present date, it has been converted into a game sanctuary. Thus, the lake offers a wonderful place to relax and lighten up. A private butifull resort is in the middle of lack.
