Udaipur : residents will soon experience enhanced travel comfort as two of the city's major railway stations — Udaipur City and Rana Pratap Nagar — are undergoing rapid development under the Amrit Station Scheme. Both stations are being equipped with modern passenger amenities and redeveloped station buildings.
As part of the initiative, Ajmer Division is implementing various passenger-centric infrastructure upgrades across 15 stations. At Rana Pratap Nagar Station, significant progress is being made under this scheme.
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. B.C.S. Choudhary, the main station building at Rana Pratap Nagar has been constructed, and final finishing work is ongoing. The circulating area development is in its final stages, with boundary wall construction expected to be completed within this month. Platform development is actively progressing, and platform shelters are nearly complete.
Divisional Railway Manager Mr. Raju Bhootda is personally monitoring the development and has directed officials to expedite the construction work.
Under the Amrit Station Scheme, development at Rana Pratap Nagar is being carried out with an estimated cost of ₹20.86 crore. Key features of the redevelopment include:
Separate entry and exit gates
Upgraded circulating area
Designated parking zones for auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers
Upgradation of Platform No. 1 from medium-level to high-level
Spacious entrance lobby with porch facilities for passenger pick-up/drop
Installation of coach indication boards on platforms
A modern food plaza
Separate toilets for men and women
Enhanced waiting rooms
Interior beautification of the station building
New platform shelters
Divyangjan-friendly amenities, including new toilet blocks, drinking water booths
Advanced signage systems
Lifts, improved furniture
Construction of a 12-meter wide foot overbridge
With these comprehensive upgrades, Rana Pratap Nagar station is set to emerge as a modern, passenger-friendly transit hub in Udaipur.
