Udaipur's Music Museum to Preserve the Art and Music of the State – Mukesh Madhwani

Udaipur: With the upcoming state budget of Rajasthan, the hopes of Udaipur residents have risen. The demand for a music museum in Udaipur has been raised in the budget being presented by Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari.

Mukesh Madhwani, the founder and president of Suron Ki Mandali, Rangmanch, and Lafzon Ki Mehfil (Rajasthan Line Producer), stated that given the city's rich cultural heritage, there is a need for a music museum in Udaipur, which will attract tourists from both India and abroad. Additionally, this museum will play a vital role in preserving and showcasing the art and music of the nation and the state.

He mentioned that letters have been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Tourism Department Jaipur, Finance Department Jaipur, District Collector Udaipur, Tourism Department Udaipur, and Secretary Urban Development Trust, requesting them to fulfill this demand for Udaipur.

Moreover, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat, City MLA Tarachand Jain, Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, and other public representatives have also supported this demand.

**Why is a Music Museum Necessary?**

Mukesh Madhwani explained that Udaipur’s identity is not limited to its lakes and palaces; it is also a heritage of music and art. The folk artists and music traditions of Udaipur are famous across the country. However, until now, there has been no dedicated space to preserve and showcase this art.

**Features of the Music Museum**

1. **Exhibition of Musical Instruments** – The museum will feature both traditional and modern musical instruments, which tourists will be able to view and experience.
2. **Music Library and Research Center** – Rare books, recordings, and digital archives will be available for public access.
3. **Digital Music Experience** – Virtual and augmented reality will be used to showcase Indian music.
4. **Workshops and Live Performances** – Programs by local and national artists will be held, and training sessions and workshops to teach music will also be organized.
5. **Promotion of Cultural Tourism** – A music festival will be organized annually, providing a platform and employment opportunities for folk artists.

**What will be the benefits?**  
Udaipur will gain a new cultural tourism destination. It will increase attraction for music lovers, researchers, and tourists. Folk artists will gain recognition and economic support. The city’s cultural heritage will be preserved.

**Land Requirement**  
The project will require 50,000 square feet of land, where the museum building, exhibition hall, library, open area, and spaces for cultural events will be located.

**Repetition of Demands for Bakery Nagar and Film City**

Businessmen and citizens of the city have also raised the demand for the establishment of Bakery Nagar and Film City. Traders believe that the creation of Bakery Nagar will provide local artisans with an organized platform and create new employment opportunities.  
Meanwhile, filmmakers and artists believe that the natural beauty and historical heritage of Udaipur make it an ideal location for Film City, which will boost tourism and employment.
