641st Ramdevra Mela Begins Amid Heavy Devotee Turnout

Jaisalmer, Rajasthan – The sacred town of Ramdevra, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Jaisalmer district, witnessed the grand commencement of the 641st Ramdevra Mela on Bhadwa Sud Beej with the traditional Mangala Aarti on Monday. As the temple gates opened early in the morning, the air resounded with chants of “Baba Ramdev Ki Jai” and a massive crowd of devotees surged towards the temple premises to seek blessings.

Devotees performed rituals at Baba Ramdev’s samadhi, offering prayers and receiving divine blessings. Additional District Collector Parsaram Saini extended greetings to the pilgrims, while Priest Pandit Kamal Kishore Changani performed the ceremonial abhishek of Baba Ramdev with milk, curd, honey, perfume, and panchamrit, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras.

Security and Management Measures

Given the large influx of devotees, authorities implemented tight security measures. Over two thousand police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the fair. Officials continuously inspected the temple and fair areas to monitor crowd management and overall arrangements. Despite these efforts, minor irregularities were reported in the distribution and sale of prasad, highlighting the challenges of managing such a massive congregation.

A Celebration of Faith and Tradition

The Ramdevra Mela attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from across the country every year. Devotees from Rajasthan and beyond throng the samadhi of Baba Ramdev to offer prayers and seek fulfillment of their wishes. Officials emphasized that the fair exemplifies faith, devotion, and community spirit, reinforcing the region’s identity as a hub of religious and cultural unity. The 641st edition of the Mela is expected to witness even greater participation, with devotees eagerly engaging in rituals, offering prayers, and celebrating the legacy of Baba Ramdev.
