Congress Pays Tearful Tribute to Former Union Minister Dr. Girija Vyas

Udaipur – Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Dr. Girija Vyas was given an emotional and heartfelt farewell on Friday by top leaders and workers of the Rajasthan Congress. The tribute was marked by deep respect and a somber atmosphere at her residence in Daitya Magri, Udaipur.

Prominent leaders including Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Assembly Speaker Dr. C.P. Joshi, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, former ministers Ramlal Jat and Dharmendra Rathore, Lok Sabha candidate and former collector Tara Chand Meena, Sandeep Choudhary, and Pawan Godara were present to offer their respects.

All leaders draped the Congress flag over her mortal remains and laid floral wreaths as a mark of tribute.

According to State Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi, tributes on behalf of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Lok Sabha Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were also offered by Govind Singh Dotasra.

As per Congress General Secretary and Spokesperson Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the funeral procession commenced at 4:00 PM from Dr. Vyas’s residence. Hundreds of party workers and local representatives joined in an emotionally charged atmosphere.

Former CM Ashok Gehlot honored her by carrying the bier, offering his shoulder as a final tribute during the procession.

Chants of “Girija Vyas Amar Rahein” and “Girija Vyas Zindabad” echoed through the air, as Udaipur joined collectively in bidding farewell to its beloved leader.

The funeral reached Ashok Nagar Crematorium, where the last rites were performed with full rituals. Her brother Gopal Sharma lit the pyre, and she was consigned to the five elements.

This marks an irreparable loss to the Congress family. Dr. Girija Vyas will be remembered for her simplicity, resilience, and spotless public service for generations to come.
