In a surprising political development, BJP leader Sadhvi Anadi Saraswati joined the Congress party on Thursday, dealing a significant blow to the BJP. She was welcomed into the Congress fold by the Pradesh Prabhari Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and senior Congress leader Mohan Prakash at the Congress headquarters in Jaipur.
Sadhvi Anadi Saraswati, originally of Sindhi origin, runs an ashram on Lohagal Road. Her real name is Mamta Kalani. This move came shortly after she sent her resignation letter to the BJP's national president, JP Nadda, on November 1. She was disgruntled with the BJP as she did not receive a ticket from the Ajmer North constituency.
Rumors suggest that Sadhvi Anadi Saraswati may contest against Vasudev Devnani, a three-time BJP MLA and former Education Minister, in the upcoming elections. Vasudev Devnani is facing strong opposition from BJP workers in Ajmer North this time.
Before Sadhvi Anadi Saraswati, Mamta Sharma, former chairperson of the National Commission for Women, and Vikas Choudhary, a prominent BJP leader from Kishangarh, known for having the country's largest marble market, also switched sides to the Congress.
Meanwhile, the trend of leaders resigning from Congress and other parties and joining the BJP continues. This time, several former administrative officers have joined the BJP, including former Union Minister Subhash Maharia. Additionally, Brahmin leader Suresh Mishra recently switched from the Congress to the BJP.
The political landscape in Rajasthan is witnessing a significant shift as leaders cross party lines, making the upcoming elections all the more intriguing.
