Mumbai : The IIFA Festival came to a spectacular close at IIFA Rocks 2024, held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, where music, glamour, and star power shone brightly. Esteemed figures from Indian cinema graced the festival, further enhancing IIFA's global recognition.
This year, IIFA Rocks was hosted by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Abhishek Banerjee. The trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy captivated the audience with their powerful performances, showcasing music that has transformed Bollywood for over three decades. Shilpa Rao enchanted everyone with her melodious voice, reaffirming her status as a favorite singer. Honey Singh got the crowd moving with his rap and beats, while Yulia Vantur’s performance also charmed the audience.
The evening of IIFA Rocks 2024 was memorable not only for the performances but also for honoring the technical talents of Indian cinema. Awards were presented in categories such as cinematography, screenplay, dialogue writing, editing, choreography, sound mixing, background score, and special effects.
In the technical category for IIFA 2024, G.K. Vishnu won for cinematography for the film "Jawan"; Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Jaskunwar Kohli, Anurag Pathak, Ayush Saxena, and Vikas Divyakirti were awarded for screenplay for "Twelfth Fail"; Ishita Moitra was honored for dialogue writing for "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani." Sandeep Reddy Vanga took home the editing award. Bosco-Caesar received accolades for choreography for "Pathaan"; Sachin Sudhakaran and Hariharan M for sound design in "Animal"; Sampath Alwar, Chris Jacobson, Rob Marshall, and Marty Humphrey for sound mixing for "Jawan"; Harshvardhan Rameshwar for background score for "Animal"; and Red Chillies VFX for special effects (visuals) for "Jawan."
IIFA also recognized achievements in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. Ravi Varman won for cinematography for "Ponniyin Selvan Part 2"; Alfred Prakash and Vignesh Raja for screenplay for "Por Thozhil"; Mahesh Babu P for dialogue writing for "Mr. Shetty Mrs. Polishchetti" in Telugu; Ujjwal Kulkarni for editing for "Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire"; Prem Rakshit Master for choreography for "Dasara, Chamkeela Angilesi"; Thota Tharani for production design for "Ponniyin Selvan Part 2"; A.R. Rahman for background score for "Ponniyin Selvan Part 2"; and Mindstone Studios for special effects (visuals) for "2018: Everyone Is a Hero" in Malayalam.
