15.88 lakh Metric Ton freight loading during Lockdown on North Western Railway

During lockdown since March, to make a supply of essential commodities uninterrupted in the country, North Western Railway is working tirelessly. 15.88 lakh MT of goods have been transported from NWR so far during the lockdown. It is helping to strengthen the supply of essential commodities in various corners of the country.

According to Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Shri Abhay Sharma, North Western Railway is committed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to all parts of the country during the lockdown. Along with supply to the needy, loading is being done for the interests of industrial units and goods traders.

On the North Western Railway, 85 rakes of cement, 100 rakes of food grains, 21 rakes of petroleum, 15 rakes of salt, 26 rakes of clinkers and 695 ranks of containers have been loaded in this lockdown from March 25 to now. 15.88 lakh tonnes of goods in 46109 wagons were transported to various parts of the country by North Western Railway. Due to this effort of the Railways, on the one hand, the essential commodities like food grains, salt are being supplied and on the other hand, necessary goods are also being transported for the industrial units. Railway are also contributing to environmental protection with its special efforts and also helping its customers to increase business.
