Collector Namit Mehta Holds Night Chaupal in Jhadol, Listens to Grievances and Inspects Government Facilities

Udaipur, In line with the state government's commitment to ensuring that welfare schemes reach the last person in line and to facilitate swift redressal of public grievances, Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta has been conducting field visits and night chaupals across the region. Continuing this initiative, he visited the remote tribal-dominated region of Jhadol on Thursday, where he conducted surprise inspections of government offices and health facilities, and held a night chaupal at village panchayat Gaurana to directly interact with villagers.

Arriving at Gaurana in the late evening, Collector Mehta sat on the traditional “jajam” to hear the concerns of local residents. Villagers raised issues related to electricity, water, roads, and education. Several individuals also submitted applications for benefits under individual and community welfare schemes. The Collector gave patient attention to each grievance and instructed the concerned officers to ensure prompt resolution. He emphasized that block and subdivision-level officers must approach public issues with sensitivity and resolve them on priority.

During the chaupal, a total of 37 petitions were submitted. These included demands for the establishment of a new Maa-Badi Centre, approvals for PM housing schemes, improvements in drinking water supply, action against encroachments, allocation of land for a playground in the government school, formation of new revenue villages, construction of a new Anganwadi centre, area expansion, setting up of a new police outpost, and sanctioning of a new building for the veterinary hospital. The Collector assured villagers that appropriate action would be taken on each issue and directed P.H.E.D. officials to urgently address the water supply concerns.

The chaupal was attended by Zila Parishad CEO Riya Dabi, Sub-Divisional Officer Kapil Kumar Kothari, Tehsildar Suresh Nahar, BDO Jitendra Singh Rajawat, and various district and subdivision-level officials.

Monsoon Precautions and Public Health Advisory

During the interaction, Collector Mehta advised villagers to take precautions against seasonal diseases during the upcoming monsoon. He stressed the importance of cleanliness and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds to prevent diseases like dengue and malaria. He also encouraged villagers to seek immediate medical attention at the nearest hospital if any symptoms occur.

As part of the “Karmabhoomi Se Matribhumi” campaign, Mehta appealed for active public participation in rainwater harvesting and large-scale tree plantation under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” initiative. He also instructed officials not to use dilapidated buildings, especially in schools, and to carry out repairs where necessary before use.

Surprise Inspections at Government Offices and Hospital

During his Jhadol visit, the Collector also inspected the sub-divisional and tehsil offices. He expressed dissatisfaction over the poor cleanliness in the office premises and issued strict directions for improvement. At the Jhadol Community Health Centre, he reviewed medical services and interacted with patients to understand the healthcare conditions and infrastructure.

This visit reaffirms the administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring effective delivery of public services in tribal and remote areas.
