Udaipur,As part of the week-long celebration of International Yoga Day, a special lecture on “Mental Health and Meditation” was organized today at the Yoga Centre of Mohanlal Sukhadia University. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Dashora, Center Coordinator of the Heartfulness Institute, who emphasized the significance of meditative practices for mental well-being.
Dr. Dashora explained that regular practice of prana-based meditation as described in the scriptures helps in the regulation of the mind, ultimately promoting sound mental health. Highlighting the Heartfulness method, he stated that this heart-centered meditation, aided by Transmission (Pranahuti), gradually frees practitioners from inner disturbances such as anger, stress, and fear, allowing them to live a more balanced and harmonious life.
He also walked participants through various stages of Heartfulness meditation with a practical session for experiential learning.
Earlier, Dr. Deependra Singh Chauhan welcomed the participants and elaborated on the benefits of yoga and meditation. Heartfulness trainer Asha Sharma conducted relaxation techniques, while youth volunteer Ranjan led activities focused on brain development for emotional stability. Devilal Chandel shared insights about Heartfulness digital tools and their accessibility.
Participants, including students like Khushboo and Nimisha, actively engaged with the speakers and shared their experiences and queries during the session.
Media Coordinator Subah Sharma informed that on June 21, International Yoga Day will be celebrated by the institute at various venues including Government College Badgaon, Guru Nanak Girls College, Vigyan Samiti, and Ganesh Mandir, Krishnapura. Yoga protocol sessions and Brighter Minds programs for children will also be held at Saheli Nagar.
