Udaipur: Enchanting dance recital by Odissi dance Guru Sharmila Biscoas at CPS,Udaipur.
A leading dancer and choreographer in odishi classical dance form, Sharmila Biswas presented her mesmerizing dance recital at CPS before the students and teachers .
She was accomparried by Mr. Sukanto Kundu, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Das & Mr. Ram Chandra Behra.
Her one hour presentation gave an insight into the traditional movement skills of odisha. She started her performance with an invocation to god.
She showed to the students through dance steps how to depict nature, animals, birds and trees in the performance as dance is another form of narrating stories through gestures.
Her recital evolved around the stories related to Krishna - his childhood mischief, the killing of the demon Putna, the serpent in the water and the revelation of whole of brahmand when Krishna was asked to open his mouth by Yashoda. These presentations were awesome. Thorough out the recital her grace expressions, intensity kept the viewers in awe. There was loud applause from them after every episode.
She is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award and other well known awards.
Such Cultural activities are organized at CPS to help promote the knowledge of Indian Classical Music and culture amongst the youth.
